The impressive looking Dragon Quest IX for the Nintendo DS is hotly anticipated by RPG fans and lovers of the Dragon Quest series.
A few questioned the sanity of Square Enix of bringing the game to a handheld platform, but judging by the Tokyo Game Show 2008 trailer for the game, the company are really pulling out all the stops and pushing the technology of the NDS to make Dragon Quest IX an essential purchase.

A bit of a treat for you Dragon Quest fans, someone has managed to video the trailer of Dragon Quest IX for the DS, that was shown at the Tokyo Game Show- the quality is okay, a few peoples heads are in the way, but it the trailer does look pretty good doesnt it?
The game will feature turn based combat and co op multiplayer (up to 4) via Wi-Fi.
Just to reiterate, this is for the DS, the first time an original numbered game in series has come to a handheld console.

Dragon Quest IX Dated In JapanBy Blitzballer 50 days ago
Square Enix are showing the love for their Dragon Quest games, with the release of the Zenitha Trilogy, and news today that a date has been set for Dragon Quest IX, which is coming to the Nintendo DS platform.
March 2009 is the date for the Japanese release, no word yet on when it will be released overseas.
Also news that Square Enix will be holding a 90 minute Dragon Quest session each day at the upcoming TGS event too.

Speaking in a brief interview, Square Enix President Yoichi Wada, has revealed that Dragon Quest IX will be released in Japan in early 2009.
This may disappoint Japanese fans, as it was hoped that the game would see the light sometime this year. Gamekyo speculate that the reasoning behind this may be because Square Enix want to give more time for sales of Dragon Quest : The Chapters of the Chosen, Dragon Quest : The Hand of the Heavenly Bride and Dragon Quest : Realms of Reverie.

Dragon Quest IX: SE Listen To The FansBy Blitzballer 496 days ago
"Button Pressing, action RPG"- that was the description given to the nature of Dragon Quest IX when it was first announced by Square Enix.
Kotaku are reporting that due to Japanese fans of the series being up in arms over this change, SE seem to have relented in their change of direction for the series and reverted to the traditional style.
