The 2005 fiscal year ended March 31, 2006, and Square Enix is just getting around to releasing it's earnings. The company saw a 14% rise in profits compared to last year, netting themselves 17.1 billion yen (US$151.2 million). Last year saw profits of a mere 14.9 billion yen (US$132 million).

Square Enix cites Final Fantasy XII's high sales, and it's purchase of game developer Taito as major factors in this increase.

Total sales for the company reached 124.5 billion yen (US$1.1 billion). Last year's total sales were a scant 73.9 billion yen (US$654.4 million), and increase of more tha 68%. Square-Enix is expecting significantly slower business for the coming year, with preditions for net sales to reach only 53 million yen (US$470 million), due largely to marketing and employment costs.

The numbers... how they make my head spin...

You'd get stuck with thousands of hate-mails about Tidus or FFX-2, fully worked-out stories for use in a next FF game, requests to work there, and requests for a hentai game starring FF males.

yup, sounds like loads of fun.
