A plethora of news has been revealed regarding the future actions of Square Enix over the past few weeks or so, with the unveiling of new games and other details regarding the company. Here, in a compact form for your reading pleasure, are the major announcements: Final Fantasy XIV was revealed at E3 this year and the fact that it will be online has cause something of a stir. It seems to be a follow up to Final Fantasy XI, but Square Enix are saying, that although it may use many of the races, XIV will be a different game. The company have announced that in Europe, they will be known as Square Enix Europe, which will be in charge of publishing the products of Eidos and Square Enix in the region. Eidos CEO Phil Rogers will be heading up this division. Due to the companies merging, there will be a few job losses. In North America, all Eidos Inc responsibilities are to be transferred to Square Enix USA, which is headed by John Yamamoto. The name Eidos will no longer be used in publishing terms. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years will release in Japan for the Wii, on WiiWare for around 800 points on July 21st. Hikari no 4 Senshi: Final Fantasy Gaiden (Four Warriors of Light: Final Fantasy Gaiden) will be for the Nintendo DS and make use of the Wi-Fi feature, allowing four player mode. It will be a traditional turn based RPG. Final Fantasy II has joined Final Fantasy I and VII on the Sony Japan Games Archive, Japans PSN basically, for the price of around 600 yen. 6 bucks. and i had no idea they were merging with eidos. does that mean the hitman games are going to be made by square from now on? |
