In his hour-long address to the media attending this year's Tokyo Game Show, Yoichi Wada spoke not so much as the president of industry giant Square Enix, but rather as the chairman of the Computer Entertainment Suppliers Association. Among the topics addressed in his speech, were the growth of the gaming industry, and the need for publishers to take advantage of the ever-changing market. "Games will have to cater to a much broader spectrum to succeed," he said, at one point, "The crisis in the game industry is not volume, but quality. As far as volume goes, there is no need for concern. If you take a business-as-usual approach, there will be a crisis." He also stressed that reaching out to the "nontraditional" audience could greatly help the industry, but that going after such an audience will require gamemakers to rethink the way they make their games.
