Square Enix denies latest FFVII rumors

Come on... you all saw it coming.

Earlier this week, Best Buy was taking pre-orders for Final Fantasy VII for PS3. What a surprise... the page has mysteriously vanished, and Square-Enix has been issuing new statements of denial, while simultaneously promoting FFXIII. Said Square-Enix in response to the Best Buy pre-orders:

'We have confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII is in development, but have NOT confirmed an FF7 remake at any time. The remake has been a popular subject for rumors, but that's all they are. Obviously the Best Buy listing was made in error'

Could it be? It there really to be no remake, or doth SE protest too much? Only time will tell.

They still haven't said that they're not making a remake.

Good. I'm glad.

It doesn't necessarily deny that they are making one, but at least it's not confirmed as of yet...I'd rather see them work on other things to be quite honest. Remaking the game could potentially ruin it, anyways.

What he said.

They still haven't said that they're not actually doing it, just that they haven't officialy confirmed it... I'll give it a year at most before it's announced.

Quoted for truth. Although I think they could drastically improve certain aspects of FFVII, from their recent track record it’s quite likely that they’d just ruin what was good about it.

I, for one, am sick of new storylines. I'm getting old and am afraid of change. I'd rather just play the same good game over again in a different way.

Gotta say im a fan of the DW games...

Id rather SE look to the future as well. Leave FFVII as it was, the masterpiece of gaming it still is.

They should make a game where CLOUD, SQUALL and ZIDANE team up for the ultimate challange against SEPHIROTH in an epic story made up of FOUR blue-ray discs.

WITH A TILTING CONTROLLER!!!

Final Fantasy Sevigtine.

And after finishing the game, you get a password which enables EXCLUSIVE FINAL FANTASY 17 CONTENT.

FEATURING A REVELOUTINARY BATTLE SYSTEM WHERE YOU MASH THE BUTTONS, AND UNLEASH LIMITS FROM THROWING THE CONTROLLER ACROSS THE ROOM, HITTING THE WALL AND SMASHING SEVERAL HOUEHOLD ITEMS!!!!

Meh, I doubt that, if they're even going to make a remake, it's gonna be for the PS3. It would just take too much time, I think.

They did remake FFI ( a few times), but those were more ports than actual remakes. Plus, they weren't updated that much in terms of graphics and such.

They did however recently remake FFIII for the DS, with full 3D graphics and everything, so it's not completely ruled out they wouldn't remake one of their games in full.

But for something as large as FFVII and the FFs that followed, the best I think we're gonna get is a port for a handheld system, with perhaps a few updates, but nothing critical.

So when is FFR going to report that there's no confirmation of the confirmation that there's a comfirmation of no confirmation?

(That sentence does actually make sense. :p)

Maybe when they run out of ideas or need some quick cash in the future, or they need to supplement their pensions, a sequel will happen. Obviously it would be quality and live up to the masterpiece of the original...Yesh

I think they should remake ff7 but the same story maybe change to the real-time battle system but nothing different. Maybe the Tifa dieing instead of Aeris glitch like in the original Japanese version but thats it. Im getting board of the new story lines and new hero's the old is still good !

Heres the thing people. Take a look at all the Final Fantasy Games released. They all are great! Final Fantasy VII has been voted many times as the BEST Final Fantasy game of them all! I think Final Fantasy VII is the best one of them all too. It has a great story line, loads of sidequests, secret characters. It's an all around great game. Sephiroth is the best Final Fantasy Villan next to Kefka from Final Fantasy VI. You may be saying it shouldn't be remade. But your not getting it. Final Fantasy VII came out with a movie and two different anime series. What other Final Fantasy game had those? Hmm, it looks like none, and how long have they had to make another movie if they wanted. Why did they choose Final Fantasy VII? Well obviously it seems that Final Fantasy VII, in Square Enix's opinion, is the best of their games. Why else would they choose it instead of Final Fantasy VIII or any other Final Fantasy. I would DEFIANTLY love to see a remake of Final Fantasy VII. Only with an action battle system. Or maybe even base it off the movie. The movie, in my opinion, was a GREAT movie! People who think it isn't, should just go fall off a cliff and die. Go play Russian Roulette with all bullets in the chamber. Dante Blade and myself both agree on all of this. I just wish that you would take this in and think about it again. And if you still disagree, whatever go ahead, it's your choice anyway, what does my opinion matter. But I stated the facts along with my opinion. Thanks for listening ;)

If they based it off the movie, it may have a startling similarity with Devil May Cry... wouldn´t that be badass....

Excuse me, I was referring to the type of gameplay. with the movie being what it was, creating gameplay similar to DMC doesn´t seem impossible. They even came close in DoC.

I don´t appreciate being called a douchebag by an upstart like you. I have been a member of these forums for over five years. I think I am aware of the rules.

Yeah....It's best not to insult a MOD on the forums dante blade, especially when he was just mentioning something that he thought would be cool for the FF7 REMAKE which was what the thread was about. So technically he was on topic and don't insult him especially when his bitchy sister is around *points to herself*

Anyway...Honestly even though there was a rumour of FFVII being remade, I sort of guessed that's all it actually was...a rumour. Even though it would be absolutely awesome if they did actually do it, they're focusing on making other games at the moment and if they were to remake FFVII it would probably be at the bottom of their list.

They kinda overdo the FFVII storyline, don't you think? all of the other FF games have that much story, but they refuse to go into it like they did with 7. They need to stop playing favorites.

Hmm, why does Square Enix like FFVII so much. Why do you like your favorite food so much, or favorite song? You listen to your favorite song everyday. People obsess about things. They can pick favorites all they want its there game.

And I highly doubt that they obsess over FFVII. Its a great game, with a great story line! It deserves its remake like all the others before it. Maybe not right now, but someday it deserves it. Because its one of, if not, the best FF game.

Dante meant by his comment, that this Topic isn't related to DMC, thats all. And that a DMC type of game, would mean Final Fantasy VII would be an Action Based game, not an RPG. DMC series is an Action Based series. And just because you've been here longer than he has, doesn't mean your any greater than he is.

And Action Game would be cool however, I would like that for Final Fantasy. It was just a misinterpretation on Dante's part for that, but no bashing at him.

Not to be against your post about similarities to DMC, but it all depends on what you mean by that. You weren't specific enough, on what you mean by being similar to DMC.

Dragonblade, it's nice to stick up for your brother, but to be honest, nobody cares. Just kidding, but then again, this thread isn't about what the FFVII remake would BE like. But if the FFVII remake will be a reality. Not your fault.

Thanks for reading my insanely long post, try not to take anything to seriously.

agreed, but the ones that were remade already were so long gone that it was impossible for them to be found, except by those that still had the SNES versions of them. I'm positive that if you look at a used game store, you will find all FF from VII through XII.

*huffs at you* Well fine then XD

Anyway...well...The way that Dirge of Cerberus was set up was quite DMC to me, the battle system (if you could call it that) was similar to an action based game and not -really- an RPG. So that might have been what Killak was talking about by DMC based.

Honestly, i kinda wish that game was never thought of. The magic was lame. It was a third person shooter. It was fun, yes, but it is the biggest change to FF since the series was made. You can't deny that fact.

But imagine the type of battle Cloud vs Sephi would have been with the DMC engine... It would have been amazing.
