Final Fantasy III Pre-orders hit 450,000

Sources in the Japanese press have let it slip that Japanese retailers have been doing a lot of business... selling a game that hasn't even been released yet. Close to 450,000 consumers have shelled out the cash to reserve their copy of the Nintendo DS remake of Final Fantasy III.

That's nearly half a million pre-orders for the game... just in Japan. Final Fantasy III is due to hit shelves in Japan on August 24th, but it looks like they won't be sitting on those shelves for very long.

That's pretty surprising actually, I never thought there'd be so much demand for it. I guess FF is as big as ever in Japan, which can't be bad...I think. Either way yeah, I'm surprised it's already making news like that, I thought it wouldn't do so well but I guess I was wrong.
