Quina is a Gourmand, a master of food and taste. Hailing from the Qu tribe, Quina lived for some time in Qu's Marsh near Lindblum. When Zidane and company arrived in the Marsh, Quina's master, Quale, told Quina to travel the world.
Quale's motive in commanding this was that Quina should learn that there is more to life than food. Quina, however, was far more interested in tasting new dishes from all around Gaia.
Of in determinant gender, and possessing questionable social skills, Quina never the less proves itself useful to the group. Zidane and the others quickly learn that by devouring certain creatures, Quina is able to learn to use new, powerful skills.
