Freya is a strong-willed and powerful Dragoon warrior from the city of Burmecia. For years, however, she has been far from home, searching for someone dear to her... Sir Fratley, the man she loved, who left on a mission and never returned.
For a time, Freya stayed in Lindblum looking for information, and it was here that she and Zidane originally crossed paths. Their meeting was a fleeting one, though, as Freya left Lindblum to continue her search elsewhere.
Some years later, she returned to Lindblum to compete in the Festival of the Hunt, and was reunited with Zidane. When a Burmecian soldier, wounded when black mages attacked Burmecia, arrived in Lindblum seeking help to fend off the invaders, Freya convinced Zidane and Vivi to accompany her to her home city. Upon reaching Burmecia, they learned that it was Queen Brahne, and a mysterious man named Kuja, who were behind the attack.
Unable to save Burmecia, Freya, Zidane, and Vivi travelled to Cleyra, where the Burmecian king was rumored to have fled. There, she found her love, Sir Frately, but due to an old injury sustained in battle, he had no memory of her. When he left once more, she did not go after him, contenting herself with the knowledge that at least he was still alive.
