The daughter of Dyne and Eleanor, Marlene was adopted by Barret Wallace after Eleanor's death and Dyne's subsequent dissappearance. Two years after Meteor decimated much of Midgar, Marlene has moved to the city of Edge, a resurrection of Midgar that sits not far from the ruined city itself. As her adoptive father is away in search of an alternative energy source to replace the Mako energy that was once relied upon by the masses, Marlene has been left in the care of Tifa Lockhart, Barret's long-time friend and fellow member of the rebel group, Avalanche.
Marlene is a shy and sensitive girl, but seems to have come out of her shell a bit over the past two years. She, along with Denzel and other children orphaned in the aftermath of Meteor, live with Tifa in an apartment above Tifa's rebuilt Seventh Heaven Bar. Though she timid by nature, Marlene is fully capable of making her opinion known, especially when she is fed up with the actions (or inaction) of the adults in her life.
