Kadaj is the leader of a group of three young men who bear a striking resemblance to Sephiroth. He is obsessive and a bit unhinged, very much like the former Soldier whom he looks so much like. Though younger than the other two members of his small, but powerful group, Kadaj wields a great deal of authority over his 'brothers', and with them is desparately seeking his 'Mother'.
Describing himself as a remnant, Kadaj is the result of contact between Jenova's cells and the Lifestream. His ultimate goal is to achieve the 'Reunion' by gathering together Jenova's genetic material, and thus gaining the power to take revenge on the planet, just as Sephiroth once attempted. In the end, Kadaj's very existance is taken over by Sephiroth when Kadaj absorbs the remaining Jenova cells that had been hidden from him by Shinra. Upon being defeated for a second time by Cloud, however, Sephiroth abandons Kadaj's body and leaves him to die.
