The world is in peril, and the empire of Palamecia and its dictator are the foremost threat to the people. No crime is too terrible, no cost is too high in Final Fantasy 2. Palamecia wishes for total control, and will take it by any means necessary.
Deep into Final Fantasy two, When their parents are brutally murdered by agents of Palmecia, Firion, Guy, Maria, and Leon are forced to flee from the Kingdom of Fynn to save themselves. As you continue in the game their enemies dog them at every turn, and eventually they are hunted down, and left for dead.
But fate is kind to them, and they are carried to safety in the town of Altair, on the orders of Hilda, Princess of Fynn. However, their joy is short-lived as they realize that Leon is not with them, and that their homeland is under the total control of the enemy. And so the decision is made. The three join forces with a growing resistance movement to drive back that Palamenians.
The decision is made... Final Fantasy 2 will take them on a journey they could never have imagined and an ending that will capture all.
Final Fantasy 2 was originally released in Japan in 1988 for the Famicom system (known as the Nintendo Entertainment System in the U.S. and other regions). The original game never made it out of Japan.
However, remakes of the game were released as part of [i]Final Fantasy Origins[/i] for PlayStation and [i]Final Fantasy 1 and 2: Dawn of Souls[/i] for Nintendo's GameBoy Advance. These two collections were both translated and localized for English-speaking audiences and game enthusiasts.
Final Fantasy 2 is also the first Final Fantasy to feature chocobos, and a character named Cid, two staples of the series as we know it today.
