Tetsuya Nomura has been speaking a little more on the ideas that surrounded the creation of Kingdom Hearts and, revealed in his pitch to Disney, that Sora and his Kingdom Key weapon was originally something different.
Nomura commented on the reaction he got when he thought that a chainsaw would be a good idea for a weapon:
“The first weapon I showed Disney was a chainsaw,”

More information translated on the Famitsu interview with Tetsuya Nomura, on which he comments about a wide range of aspects regarding various Square Enix games.
According to Nomura:
The company are set to announce something for the Game Archives (PSOne Classics)
Nomura said he is no longer developing Final Fantasy XIII but is responsible for the advertising, designs and synchronization.

Rumours are gathering regarding various companies that will be present at E3 this year, and while Square Enix wont be holding a conference and have scaled back their presence, three new titles are set to be unveiled at the event.
The website Gameplayer reveal that their sources have told them what the games are, but are under a strict gag order not to say until Square Enix themselves reveal them.

It is common knowledge that a chance meeting in an elevator between Square Enix and Disney people where the beginnings of an idea for a game came about, but Tetsuya Nomura also has commented on another aspect that influenced the creation of Kingdom Hearts.

E3 2009 is shaping up to be quite promising this year but it seems that some companies have altered their arrangements for the event due to Swine Flu.
Capcom, Koei and now Square Enix have confirmed a scale down. The company talked to Gamesindustry.biz and had the website had this to say:

Square Enix have released their worldwide sales figures for the fiscal year, which ended on March 31st.
Looking at the figures, and the picture, you can see how well their games did across the regions and it seems that remakes bear the brunt of the figures.
The Dragon Quest V remake is the best seller, which came out on the DS, with Dissidia: Final Fantasy the second best- although an original property it contains a plethora of figures from many Final Fantasy installments.

Takahiro Sakurai is the voice actor for Cloud Strife in the Japanese versions of Kingdom Hearts, Crisis Core and Advent Children among other projects.
In celebration of the re-release of the FFVII 10th Anniversary Ultimania, Sakurai gave an interview on what being the seiyuu for Cloud entails, the process of voice acting and his love for Final Fantasy VII.

In an interview with the magazine Edge, an executive producer for Final Fantasy XIII has made some comments regarding the more mature gamer that may follow Square Enix.
